For a hypothetical scenario, you might struggle to find anybody who cares
You could check your driver record with the DVLA online and see if there are any endorsements added for the period the V5C documents were incorrect.

Just did this check, it says there are no endorsements or suspensions. Although I assume that doesnt mean there couldnt be anything pending.
Thanks.
I've got an interesting scenario to bring to the table...
I was traveling South on the A1, at this stage of the journey I'd not long joined the A1 from the Edinburgh City Bypass. All of the journey was done with cruise control set to 60 or 70, where applicable.
There was one stretch of dual carriageway (possibly before Haddington, but I can't be 100% sure) where a line of cars were all doing 60-65mph in the outside lane, leaving the inside lane completely free as far as the eye could see. I got slightly agitated (silly on my part) and went back into the inside lane, where I applied some gas to pass the line and then return to cruise speed. As I approached the front of the line, I caught sight of a marked Volvo SUV sitting at an observation point on the opposite side of the road. I reacted immediately and slowed down, but I'm fairly certain my peak speed was 90mph. No attempt was made by them to turn around and pull me over, but I think I'm right in saying they can still issue a NIP to me via post?
It's possible they weren't even monitoring speeds and were simply just having a break or doing a multitude of other things, right? What's the likelihood that I've been done?

Yes, they can issue a NIP. Probably unlikely that they were monitoring speeds in the opposite carriageway, but your careless/dangerous driving may have drawn their attention.

Getting fed up with lane hoggers sitting in the outside lane for no good reason, however, that doesn't excuse or permit a few seconds of agitated driving. I'm hopeful that, as it was only a few seconds of acceleration followed by a return to cruise speed, I'm off the hook. I know undertaking is a divisive subject, and I wanted to clear their blind spots and get past the backlog of slow-moving cars in the incorrect lane as quickly as possible.

Not to the police! That would definitely be charged as careless in England, but Police Scotland seem to be more trigger-happy with dangerous driving charges, e.g. for excessive speed.
Hi all,
First time posting so be gentle.
I was driving back from Weston on the M5 yesterday, staying between 60/70 and I noticed that on 3 separate occasions there was a flash behind me. Im pretty sure the stretch of the M5 is variable and no gantries were lit.
My question is, do speed cameras usually go off for no reason? I don't usually drive on motorways and not sure if it's something to do with calibration or a random trigger to remind people that they are actually there?
Just found it really weird that they went off for no apparent reason.
Was there anybody in the outside lane when these flashes were going off?
Do the cameras go off when someone isn't speeding. Yes, they can do. Faults, calibration, updating, boredom. Was it a single flash or double?
Hi,
I was in the Luton area on Saturday, in a work vehicle and realised at some point that I was in an average speed zone. I slowed down to counter the difference, but looking back at the vehicle tracker I feel that literally 1 minute of driving may have put me over the limit.
From what I understand, the road changes from 40mph to 50mph so I am not sure if I have been too late in slowing down, i.e I sped through the 40mph zone and tried to counter this average while in the 50mph zone.
I cant attach photos on this post so have put an image in this URL:

https://speedingfinecalculatoruk.com/speed-camera-map/ but these appear to be inaccurate.
The 37mph is me joining New Airport Way from Vauxhall Way. The final orange segment ends as New Airport Way flys over a road called The Luton Drive
I'm not from the area, travelled about 4 hours out of the way on a delivery on the weekend. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Not a lot to say until a NIP/s172 arrives.
As you do not appear to be the RK then it could be many weeks before you hear.

From Cribbs Causeway (jn17) to Almondsbury (jn16) is covered by variable speed limits and Hadecs cameras. It doesn't look that far on the map but seems to go on for ages when driving. I've found the gantry signs can be easy to miss due to concentrating on the sheer weight of traffic especially going south. I've seen camera activations along there, not sure of the outcome, it's just a waiting game I'm afraid, 14 days of watching the post ...

From memory, the average speed cameras cover the 50mph section from Capability Green to the M1 only and visa-versa. I can't recall ever seeing them in the 40mph section of New Airport way/Vauxhall way.
Hey there, following an offense last August I was awarded 6 pts and a 1 weeks wage fine last month, following the SJPN and magistrates process.
I used this forum to great effect and was so so grateful for all of the extremely useful advice and if I'm honest the blunt but factual responses made it clear how to act and where I stood and the outcome was pretty much exactly as predicted.
Naturally I'm going to come back then given what I think has just happened this morning.
I think I just got pinged on the M42. Stupidly I was doing about 80mph (clearly I'm kicking myself but was in a line of traffic in the fast lane all moving at about the same speed and wasn't paying close enough attention) it may have even been 81/82 or potentially a little less as I saw the camera and braked shortly after it came into view but at best I was doing about 77.
Regardless...if caught that's an incoming NIP with 3 pts and £100 fine I suspect.
My question is whether or not for this specific offense I might be offered a speed awareness course.
I have never attended one before but I'm not sure if the existing 6 pts on my license exclude that from the options that might be offered?
Obviously I am very concerned about the totting up procedure and being on 9 pts for what will have to be nearly 3 years.
Its entirely of my own doing, there are no excuses and if the speed awareness course isn't or can't be offered I'm going to just have to drive extremely carefully from now on.
