No not for 6 months
« on: December 28, 2024, 06:31:03 pm »
Basically my neighbour has just realised they’ve been driving without an MOT for the last 6 months.

I can’t believe they haven’t been caught as they regularly drive into London and around quite a bit.

Are speed cameras and ULEZ not linked up to the dvla for MOT fines?

No they're not.

Driving without an MOT is a relatively trivial matter (£100 penalty, no points) so probably not seen as a priority. It is also picked up automatically the next time VED is due.

The evidence suggests not.

You can always check an MoT online. What I find worrying is that these cars aren't checked from one year to the next. Do people not do a regular check on things like lights and tyres? Basic safety stuff. Once every 18 months isn't good enough.
Bus driving since 1973. My advice, if you have a PSV licence, destroy it when you get to 65 or you'll be forever in demand.
