Parking Charge Notice, Parking Eye, Derbyshire Service Station
« on: »
Hi all,

I'm stressing about this Parking Charge Notice:

Date of issue: 04/04/2024

No clear reason given for reason but I think it's because you're permitted to 2 hours free and I over stayed by exactly 30 minutes. The initial cost was £60, then £100, and now it is £232

I was a customer at the Starbuck there, had lunch and refreshments, but it was the day that I was exchanging contracts on a house and it was very very stressful (on, off, on, off, and on the phone to solicitors)

As I ended up moving into my new property that evening, I then didn't receive any further letters from them until they've been forwarded to me (via family member, I didn't update DVLA or log book yet).

13th August i've now been issued a letter that states:

"Judgment for Claimant"
The Court office at Northampton
It isn't clear what it wants from me, other than more money.

I should have responded sooner of course, but it was a very stressful time.

What is this letter that i've had through? And what shall I do next? Do I have to pay such an extorniate amount??

I have removed that Imgur link, as you have left your full name and home address showing. Please re-upload with those details missing. If you have received a judgement in default this means the matter has been to court, and as it was undefended, a judgement has been issued against you.

What is the date of the judgement?

It sounds as though you did not receive notice of the claim against you, did not acknowledge it or defend it and so a CCJ was issued in default. You must contest this and apply for a set aside asap.

Why haven't you update your V5C yet, although it wouldn't have mattered as at the time of the event, you had not yet moved? By not updating your V5C, you run the risk of fine of put o £1,000 from the DVLA, so get that done now. You can do it online.

Didn't you set up a mail redirect service from Royal Mail? If not, why not?

The first thing you must do is, at about 0830 in the morning, if you want to avoid a very lengthy wait on the phone, call the CNBC and, whilst on the phone tell them to email you the Particulars of Claim (PoC) and make a note of the claimant and if they used one, the name of the solicitor too. Once you have that information, you will be in a position to apply for a set aside.

Show us the PoC once you have them with the name of the claimant and their solicitor, if they used one. We can then advise on how to go about the set aside. If you leave it too late, you will be in a world of financial pain for the next 6 years.
