Hello, it's my first post, I hope the image link works.

The driver of the vehicle received a parking fine last year from Cairn Lodge Services Lanark. It was really late and they stopped there and fell asleep, they didn't see any parking signs at the time and just left. A couple of weeks later a fine came through, I googled the place to find pictures of the parking signs, which are the most obscure and un-obvious signs I've come across.

I ignored the initial letters and was shortly after diagnosed with a brain tumour, so after that my year went down hill and I just binned everything that came through from them after reading some advice on online forums that they wouldn't follow up. I stopped hearing from them and then recently received a letter from BW Legal demanding payment as a lump sum or via a payment plan.

I don't know what to do I can't really afford it as I had to take lots of time off work due to the tumour, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Very sorry to hear of your illness, I hope you're doing as well as you can in the circumstances. Are you resident in Scotland?

I'm on the mend now thanks, had the tumour removed end of July.
I'm not a resident of Scotland, I live in Wales

I would amend your opening post so as not to identify who was driving - "the driver" parked etc.

As the alleged parking event took place in Scotland, they have no mechanism through which to hold you liable as the registered keeper of the vehicle. Only the driver can be liable, and they don't know who that is.

Ignore for now. If you receive a "Letter of Claim", return here.
