Why has my account 'DancingDad' been deleted and the name handed over to a new member!!!!! This is a brand new site ffs!!!!!!!

Seems like a question more rightly asked to the mods/admin in private then in an open thread.

But being as you asked it, can I ask one in reply?

Any reason why you chose to register as DancingDad?

After all, it is a username that I have used on Pepipoo since 2010 and for 25.6K posts.
I fully accept that it is not my intellectual property or in any way owned by myself but it is a name I am rather attached to and believe that it has some worth, if only because it is a name that many people on this new site will recognise and perhaps trust.
I'd hate for them to be misled by someone who appropriated it because it was vacant.

first off as we speak I'm in correspondence with Ivan over this matter.

I choose DancingDad as I have used that name before on other forums.

You are correct in that you don't own the name DancingDad.

If you are sooooo attached to the name why when you knew Pepipoo was going t%ts up you didn't get off your butt and migrate over to this site and bring your precious name with you?

How can someone "appropriate" a name?

So do tell us DD did you go running to admin/mods to report 'your' name being used and demanded that my perfectly legal and above board account be shut down without any prior warning/without myself being given the chance to appeal/without any reason being given to me so that you could take it over as you think that it is yours to use and only you are allowed that name?

Bottom line is you missed the boat re registering your name on here and you are peeved about it.

I'll not post my correspondence between Ivan and myself unless he gives me permission to do so, it has all been screenshot.

For a fledgling site that attempts to right the wrongs of misjustice this episode is not a good look.

I fully expect this account to disappear over night tbh.

Deleting a members account just to let a person off a DIFFERENT site use that members name is the most egregious behaviour I have witnessed on here, maybe a foresight of things to come.

You couldn't be further from the truth of it if you tried.

For the record, there were no demands, no peevish behavior, no slagging off other members.

Rightly or wrongly, people are going to guess or assume that anyone of the pepipoo crowd who re-appears here is the same person, and this could lead to unfortunate misunderstandings.

DancingDad had been on pepipoo for well over a decade and is a well-known and well-respected member, if someone had taken a username such as Pastmybest, DWMB2, Mrmustard, Incandescent or any of the other well-known contributors, I would have done the same.

Besides, prior to deciding to take such offence you had not posted anything anywhere, so it's not at all clear that you've suffered any detriment aside from not being able to have the username "DancingDad".

You have your account and you can amend your username to "The Real DancingDad" or "DancingDad 2" or "The Original DancingDad" or whatever else you want. I look forward to reading some constructive posts from you in the future.

@DancingDad3 it seems you've somewhat confused things by setting up a second account.

To clarify, the account originally registered on here as @DancingDad still exists with the login @DancingDad2, if it's you who registered that account then you can still log into that account. I'm not entirely sure why you set up another account under @DancingDad3?
