Hi All
Wanted some advice - it may be that I have to swallow and pay this one but wanted to check before I did so.

Received a PCN for an infraction on 30/05/25 for failing to drive in the direction shown by the arrow on a blue sign (proceeding in the wrong direction).

The driver swears that he was doing what he always does (so will go this weekend and get some photos).

I haven't got a link to the video but will call and ask for this tomorrow but wanted to share the photos to see if anyone had had this issue

Thank you

This location rings a bell but I can't recall cases - the tribunal register could be checked.

Our member Hippo may have something on website/PCN issues.

Thank you. Will wait to see if Hippo has anything more.

I had a look at this junction on GSV and there are no directional arrows on the last view of July 2024, so this looks like a fairly new restriction. The only thing there is the two traffic lanes on Peckham Rye here: -
Find local businesses, view maps and get driving directions in Google Maps.
Find local businesses, view maps and get driving directions in Google Maps. · maps.app.goo.gl

They may have put in new signal heads that split the green phase for the two lanes.

Hello - do you think I can argue that this is new? What would be an appropriate response

Until we know what is there, it is difficult to give advice.

Collateral challenge@ they cannot issue a charge certificate 28 days from the date of the notice. Refer them to Schedule 1 para 5 etc.

Website: before you make representations, it is essential you screenshot what the webpage says re price increase and when.

There are "known knowns" which we may never have wished to know. This applies to them. But in the field the idea that there are also "unknown unknowns" doesn't apply as they hide in the aleatoric lottery. I know this is true and need to be prepared knowing the "unknown unknowns" may well apply.

Hi Hippocrates - would you you elaborate please and point me in the direction of some working. Thank you very much

Hi All

Appealed this on the basis of 1. procedural impropriety - Breach of Schedule 1 Paragraph 5 2. Lack of Adequate Signage or Road Markings 3. Traffic Chaos and Obstruction at Time of Alleged Contravention. The appeal was rejected and the letter is attached.

I also looked on the site this morning and there is a threat to increase the fee to £240 if I didn't pay - screen shot attached.

Any advice as to whether I just pay this or take it to London tribunals.

Thank you for any advice

Hi, I wanted to know the result of this and if any advice was available.

I can't clearly remember the drive, but it was late at night. I usually drive the same way back from work (night shift), so I'm not sure why or if there are more on the way.

Had to spend a while to set up a vpn to see the old Imgur pics as the UK is recently blocked :(

Mine's here, the same place, direction, everything.

I just opened the letter today (I haven't replied or appealed) after spending ages yesterday morning challenging an unrelated private parking charge that I'm just as confused by. I'm having a really hard time and could use any help.

Can send any more info, not sure if Hippocrates was able to help nasmin

Thanks

By way of update, the appeal for this was yesterday.

The appeal was UPHELD
here is the response
The Appellant appeared by video link and was represented by Mr Morgan The Council was
represented by its officer Mr Whitlock.
The PCN was issued on the basis that by turning right at this junction the Appellant had failed to
comply with the requirement to drive in the direction indicated by the sign. However the blue "ahead
only" arrows to diagram 606 Traffic Sign Regulations and General Directions 2016 mounted on the
traffic signals had been covered up as a result of road works, and had been replaced not with a
similar sign but with a temporary rectangular sign to diagram 652 TSRGD, the sign used to indicate a
one-way street ("one-way traffic"). In the absence of a replacement sign to Diagram 606 ("vehicular
traffic must proceed in the direction indicated by the arrow") the requirement to proceed ahead only
was not correctly indicated and the Appeal must be allowed.

The chestnut did not need to be opened! Quite an appalling state of affairs for them to adduce "evidence" 3 hours before the hearing. Pot v Kettle metaphor except there was a Master Chef in the middle directing the cooking. Our procedural arguments were aired ab initio.

One of the items produced, if it were mine, I would have taken to the High Court and, as they watch me, I ain't making an idle threat either. The day is approaching.
