What are the implications of going to a formal stage? Would I potentially insure more costs than the £35 if it’s rejected? As currently I’ve only got a few days left of the half price offer.
The full penalty is in play if you take the matter to th Adjudicators, but there are no additional costs to pay nor any prospect of a CCJ. The original legislation was carefully written way back in 1991 to exclude county courts from the process, and that has continued with later Acts.
You're in for £35 now, and that doubles at adjudication, so an extra £35, or nil to pay if you win. It's a double-or-quits gamble essentially. We try to give advice that indicates the likelihood of a win, but some ajudicators are real hanging judges, I'm afraid.
