This is something I was thinking about recently with regards to PPC ANPR invoices, for example in supermarket car parks. For example:
- An invoice is received for an ANPR car park where the driver is required to spend a minimum amount, scan their receipt and enter their registration
- The driver is sure that they did enter the registration and scan the receipt that confirms at least minimum transaction value
- Bank transactions confirm that the driver used the store on that day and spent at least minimum transaction value
I have never seen any advice requesting database records of entries and exits. Aside from the fact that PPCs are generally amoral and venal, we know for sure that their systems are far from infallible. Therefore on the specific issue of contesting contract points to do with minimum spend and voucher validation, can records be demanded at any stage?
Clearly there are GDPR issues with number plates, but could these be demanded in a redacted format (e.g. just first 4 characters)?
