Hello All

I was convicted of speeding (70mph in a 50mph zone) for which I was given a SJPN. I pleaded guilty via an online submission and was notified via online and via post that I have been given a fine (I have paid the fine in full). I spoke to my insurer today to inform them that I had been convicted of speeding and fined and my insurer asked me for a conviction code but I cant see any conviction codes on any of the paperwork from the court. How do i find out what the conviction code is? do i need to ring the court? where do i go from here? can anyone help or advise?

thanks in advance

There is no such thing as a "conviction code". What they want is the "endorsement code" which is something given  by the DVLA, not the court when they endorse your licence. If you were speeding in a car on an ordinary road (not a motorway), the code will be SP30.
If you check your driving licence details on the DVLA website, it should show the code.

I’ve checked my record on the dvla website and there is no endorsement code listed on there. Does it take a while for the endorsement to get put on the DVLA website?

Is that a rhetorical question?

Nope. I assumed I would find the endorsement code listed on my record on the DVLA website but there is nothing listed. So I am completely confused

Just tell them you do not yet know as the DVLA hasn't applied it to your licence yet. What does your policy say about notifying them? It is immediately or at renewal?

Personally I would wait until the points are added to my licence and then tell them, assuming it couldn't wait until the renewal date.

How did you end up with a SJPN rather than a £100 COFP?

Thanks for the info BertB.

I was doing 70mph in a 50mph zone. The police who stopped me for speeding said I would get a FPN of 3 points and £100 fine, however, the people reviewing my offence in the ticket office decided my speeding was too excessive for a FPN and had to be dealt with through the courts via a SJPN. Thats the gist of it from what I understand

It should have been a fixed penalty up to 75mph.

Edit. Although it will be pointed out that there is no right to a COFP. It does seem strange to break from the norm
