Euphemisms
« on: »
Following on from the PPP tread "euphemisms", one I dislike is the the question "may I use your bathroom?" or to use the word "bathroom" when you really mean "toilet". Someone mentioned it a few days ago and someone else replied "if you want to have a crap use the toilet, it's hard to flush turds down the bath plug".

And the tale doing the round s a few years ago, where dippy blonde goes to new boyfriend's house where they have a small wash room with just a small sink under the stairs. DB want to have a wee so asks to use the washroom. A few moments later there's an almighty crash as the washbasin is ripped off the wall....

What about the cousins across the pond, they go to the "restroom". I'm not sure if this means that they have a nap on the toilet?
I practice law in the Traffic Penalty Tribunal, London Tribunals, the First-tier tribunal for Scotland, and the Traffic Penalty Tribunal for Northern Ireland, but I am not a solicitor or a barrister. Notwithstanding this, I voluntarily apply the cab rank rule. I am a member of the Society of Professional McKenzie Friends, my membership number is FM193 and I abide by the SPMF service standards.

The only time I'd say it's a "rest room" is if I've used the white ceramic telephone to god and failed to get off the floor! But I suppose it give a fella a rest from the nagging wife.
