Hi there. Yesterday I drove up to York and parked as I usually do to visit the NRM, right next to my car park on Carlistle street there are roadworks with temp lights, what caught my eye is that next to the usual "When red light shows wait here" sign there was an additional "Traffic enforcement cameras" sign next to it. After parking I went to examine the lights and site on foot but found no signs of any actual cameras. That got me thinking if this sign is literally just there as a scare tactic/deterrent to stop people from thinking about jumping the lights?
Here is a pic of one end showing the lights and signs mentioned.

I'd say it's a scare tactic if you have walked the length and confirmed - Any devices would need to be sited in view of the lights anyway. Although ironically, it looks like you have caught the dude on the bike using his phone - ha you are the enforcement camera in this pic

6pts +£200 for the L-driver on the scooter.  Good start.

Probably the same tactic as "speed enforcement" signs in roadworks on the motorways.

No, not for the motorway, but for the actual workers!
