Speeding fine when not speeding
« on: March 07, 2024, 09:33:23 pm »
Hi I received a speeding ticket for doing 50 in a 40 zone. I know I wasn’t speeding. I was doing 40 and a guy was up my backside. He didn’t see the camera and undertook me, speeding past. Is there anything I can do? Will the police believe me? It was in Scotland. Police van at the side of a road.

If what you say is true it’s likely the camera had a video stream and this would prove your innocence.

You could start by asking PS for photos from the video, they won’t release evidence so you ask for photos ‘to help confirm the drivers ID’ or similar wording, let’s see what they show.  Don’t delay, it doesn’t pause the 28 days in which you must name the driver.
There are motorists who have been scammed and those who are yet to be scammed!

If it is a Section 172 request, you could go down the unsigned route.
