You can ask for whatever you like. What you get is another matter. If the police have already sent you photographs (which are taken to identify the vehicle, not the driver) you are unlikely to get anything else.
Failure to provide the driver's details will see you prosecuted. If convicted, you face a hefty fine, six points and an insurance crippling endorsement code (MS90) which will see increased premiums for up to five years.
There is a statutory defence to the charge which says you will not be convicted if you can show, to the court's satisfaction, that you did not know and could not with reasonable diligence have ascertained who the driver of the vehicle was.
