Hello,

I received a PCN from UKPC for overstaying parking at their parking site in Gallions Reach, Beckton. The PCN mentions that customers can park for up to 4 hours and apparently we were parked there for 4 hours and 16 minutes. We did go to Gallions Reach, we had lunch, went to a few shops to buy toys and and other items and when it got late we grabbed a bite for the children for their dinner. I don't recall ever seeing signs that said there was a 4 hour time limit but regardless we spent a lot of money visiting the shopping centre and this is quite a slap in the face.

I see their was a thread on someone experiencing this earlier in the year here and I was wondering if I should just copy/paste the letter that B789 suggested? I tried to look at the images on this thread about the signage but I was unable to view the images, something about the images were unavailable to the UK location.

UKPC have an online appeals process, so I was wondering if I just use this form and in the description field if I just post the letter that B789 suggested? Also in the online appeals form, they have a drop-down menu option to say that the Appeals Reason is Genuine Customer, so I was wondering if I should use that or if it implicates me unnecessarily.

I will upload pictures of the PCN and the UKPC appeals form soon, but I just found out that imgur.com is no longer useable from the UK so I need to find another free site to use to upload the pictures so please bear with me. I received the PCN with a date of the 13th Nov, so I need to put in an appeal today to stay within the 14 day grace period for the discounted amount if I am not mistaken.

Thank you

If you intend to fight this, then the "discount" is irrelevant, and you should be prepared to fight it all the way.

A good first step would be to contact the management/ownership of the retail park. The 4 hour limit will have been brought in to deter non-customers, not to punish genuine customers who enjoy the place so much they spend over 4 hours there.

The odds of a UKPC PCN reaching hearing in court are slim to none. Either go through the motions of appeal/rejection/POPLA/ rejection/debt-recovery rubbish/LoC/ Claim form/defend/N180DQ/mediation call/trnasfer/allocation and finally discontinuation.

Takes about 9-12+ months from start to finish. Very little for you to do and just get on with your life in the meantime.

Your choice.

Thank you DWMB2 and B789 for responding so quickly.

I did what DWMB2 suggested and called Gallions Reach Management office and like what DWMB2 suggested the management were happy to help and said they do have a policy in place with UKPC to allow genuine customers to appeal tickets if they can prove they were at the retail park hence why they have that drop-down option 'Genuine Customer'. They also told me to email info@gallions-reach.co.uk with the PCN and receipts so that they can make sure UKPC follow this policy.

So I will go ahead with that route, it sounds like management are all OK with this and the PCN should get cleared. I'll provide an update on this post to let you know how it went so others know what to do if they get the same problem at Gallions Reach retail park.

Thanks again

When contacting the shopping park by email etc., do so in a way that does not identify who was driving.

Hello All, I just wanted to provide an update and close this thread off. My appeal was accepted as a 'Genuine Customer' and the Gallions Reach Management Team reached directly out to UKPC to confirm the same. I received a letter from UKPC and the PCN has been cancelled.

Thanks again for all your help.
