PCN-Euro car parks-Not my number plate
« on: »
So yesterday I received a parking fine notice for parking in a Sainsbury's car park in a Maidstone 50 miles away . But it was not me I was at work during the times it specified never been that way and it seems that the car most likely had a similar plate. Also the picture only shows the number plate and not the actual car/driver . most likely It has mistaken a letter on the number plate but not sure if it could be something more nefarious. The number plates don't look similar as mine is electric and has the green stripe to the side and the dealership on the number plate on mine but the one in the picture provided has neither
AG64POR ( MINE )
AC64POR ( THE ONE IN THE PHOTO)
These are not real number plates just pointing out the G and C being an issue
It says I parked for 8hrs and 39mins from 2.41pm

23.20pm

I was at work from 10am-5.30pm so plain and simple it's not me could never of been me etc...
I am the nominated driver and  only driver of the car. I am not sure if I am able to request footage of my vehicle from my work car park which would obviously show that it was present during my shift with the entry and exit times
But how do I appeal this with little evidence or has what I have pointed out enough to get this squished with a photo of my number plate and full pic of my car.

 i also thought it could of been a potential scam. as googling the number provided came up with other people who have been in a similar situation and mentioned it is a scam.

how do i move forward with this.

Thankyou

So just write and point out that
1/ Your car (where you were is irrelevant) wasn't there.
2/ Their system appears to have misread the plate.
There are motorists who have been scammed and those who are yet to be scammed!

You are not appealing. You are complaining to them. Tell them you will report them to the BPA for a breach of their CoP at 21.5a which states:

Photographic evidence must not be used by you as the basis for issuing a parking charge unless:
a) at least one of the images captured includes a clear record of the vehicle’s VRM to which the parking charge is deemed to apply;
b) the images bear an accurate time and date stamp applied at the point the picture was taken;
c) the image(s) show, where appropriate, the pay and display tariff receipt as displayed or not being visible;
and
d) images generated by ANPR or CCTV have been subject to a manual quality control check, including the accuracy of the time-stamp and the risk of keying errors.

It is pretty obvious that (d) has not been complied with. Also, if they've not supplied evidential photos on the NtK, that is another breach. Whilst they may have some file photos, they should include an unaltered (cropped or distorted) photo of the vehicle, including a date/time stamp.

Have you checked the details of the vehicle you suspect the VRM is of on this site:

Is your vehicle and the one you suspect it is of, the same make, model and colour?
