I have received a parking fine from February but just received a DCBL letter saying I owe £170. My address with DVLA was updated on the 27/02/26 but the parking fine was on the 21/02/26. They admit to sending to a previous address on the letter, but i'm assuming to get to this point of a fine they will of have to have sent more then one letter on the date and my address has been updated since then. I've since then contacted my previous address and seen if they have had multiple letters which they have so this means they've sent to the incorrect address at least once in the time they were contacting me regarding this ticket. Is there anything I can do? I had no idea about this till the DCBL letter and they admit to sending to a different address. My address was updated 6 days after the day of contravention?

They can only ask for your details once, so your old address was used. You also do mean your V5C don’t you?

You can contact the data protection officer of both DCBL and the parking company telling them to update your address for service to your new address.

16) How to Contact Us

DCBL’s Data Protection Officer (DPO) is the main contact for anyone who wants to discuss matters covered under this policy or the law, including any person whose personal data we have come into contact with and used or stored, whether for our own purposes or on behalf of another company.

You can email dpo@dcbltd.com

It’s not a fine, it’s an invoice for payment under the contract the driver entered into by parking. In general it is unwise to identify the driver, do not say “I” but “the driver”.

If you contact the parking company, without identifying the driver, you should request a copy of the original PCN (Parking Charge Notice) at the same time.

DCBL should be ignored otherwise, if you want to fight this. On what basis will you defend this? You will get a Letter of Claim from DCB Legal, not the same company.
