Can't pay ParkMaven Parking Charge
« on: »
Hi,
Earlier today I received a parking charge of £60 going up to £100 on the 31/05/2025. Long story short, I went to a McDonalds near my girlfriends house and there was no parking so I parked next door at a Premier Inn for 20 minute. I didn't notice anything saying it was a private car park and have parked there before. (However, I may have just not seen anything, there could have been something I missed)

In my letter there are 2 different Parking charge reference numbers for some reason, neither of which work when submitting them into the website. When I call up it asks if it has a certain prefix or no prefix at all. It does have a prefix but not the one they say. (A robot so no way to discuss this) Regardless of which option it doesn't recognise either reference number I have been given.

Basically, I cannot pay if I did want to (I would much rather not) and I also can't appeal it. What should I do? And can I avoid paying it at all, will I seriously get taken to court over 100 pounds?

I suggest you read https://www.ftla.uk/private-parking-tickets/read-this-first-private-parking-charges-forum-guide/, modify your post so that you don’t identify the driver and post up a suitably redacted copy of the PCN you have received. Without knowing specific details we can’t advise well. Do not redact any dates on the PCN.

An email complaint can also act as an appeal, but I suggest you don’t send anything yet until you get some input here.
