Hello all. After a little advise:
Me and my wife went to a restaurant on 4th August 2023 (booked) for a meal (paid by card, on bank statement)
When there we were asked to put the registration of our car in a machine on the bar for parking, which I did.
Few weeks later we received a parking fine for unauthorized parking. I appealed and said we were there eating.
Heard nothing, today I've received a letter from a debt collector wanting £170. I've rang them and they don't want to know and impossible to talk to a person at the parking company.
Any help please? Maybe I put the car registration in slightly wrong on the machine but would of only been a letter wrong if that. Surely the booking at the restaurant and my bank statement on the day would be proof enough that we attended?
Thinking of leaving it and definitely not paying, if they take me to court do they have to prove I wasn't in the restaurant? As I can easily prove I did.
Would appreciate any help. Im in the UK.
Thanks
The easiest 'fix' is to go back to the establishment and insist they contact the PPC and instruct them to cancel- they can do this, but you may need to speak to the head person to get traction. I don't know the success rate, but it's the most straightforward.
Ignoring is a very bad idea...............
