The driver dropped his children off at the Windermere Choices Health Club on 21 July. They were on holiday in the Lake District and the children paid a day membership to enter the health club. The driver did not leave their car but waited to ensure the children were admitted safely to the club - their son came out of the club to confirm this was the case, and the driver left the car park after a total of 11 minutes. There were signs in the car park but the driver assumed as they were only dropping off and attended the car park for a few minutes, parking charges would not apply. The charge notice letter states that drivers should log their car registration at the health club reception. However, the driver did not enter the health club so this was not possible, and it seems a reasonable assumption that this requirement covered people attending the club itself, rather than merely dropping children off. The driver has evidence (Apple pay statement) of the children paying to access the Health club for the day. The driver's assumption is that an appeal should be fairly straight forward based on the information provided above, but would appreciate any additional advice - parking notice attached - thank you in advance.  :)

I think you should start by asking the Health Club to cancel the ticket.
Often referred to here as “plan A”.
Stopping without leaving the car can be parking, and Parking Eye don’t care much other than for your money. The Health Club will be more amenable to your arguments.

Brilliant thank you have done that and they have cancelled it - it did cross my mind to contact them but feared they wouldn't be interested. Much easier than I expected it to be - cheers

Excellent, glad for you that this worked!
