parking charge notice by NPC at my gym parking
« on: »
Hi all,

I was given this PCN (3rd Oct; £100, reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days) by NPC for missing to register my car at the gym (Welcome Gym, Sutton, London) on 30th Sept. Upon receiving the PCN letter, I reached out to my gym management asking if they could get it cancelled as I have been a gym member for more than 7 years and this was the 1st time I missed registering my car (genuinely honest mistake). My gym management understood the situation and reached out to NPC to appeal the PCN and get it cancelled; however, it was going back and forth but they assured me that they were trying to get it cancelled and have also asked for the fine to be frozen till a decision was reached.

NPC no longer (I think since the past week or so) manages my gym parking.

Yesterday morning (21 Nov) I received a letter from debt collectors (dcbl) asking me to pay £170 within 14 days for unpaid parking charge else they will initiate legal action against me.

As of this morning (22 Nov), I have emailed NPC that this should not have happened as the PCN was under the appeal and being discussed; I also shared the email correspondence with my gym management as attachment, and copied my gym on my email. Response is awaited from NPC.

Given this situation, please could you advise the best course of action for me in this scenario.

Regards,

Raj

DCBL cannot do anything. They certainly cannot initiate litigation against you. You can safely ignore DCBL or any other debt collector for that matter. They are powerless to do anything and are relying on your gullibility and ignorance to scare you into paying the now inflated charge, with the fake added £70. Use their letter as kindling or to line the bottom of a litter tray. They really are powerless.

Can you show us the original Notice to Keeper (NtK) you first received from NCP? We don't need to see any reminders or useless debt collector letters.

When you contacted NCP, did you give away the identity of the driver?

It is far too late to appeal. If you can get a response from NCP about this, hopefully you only contacted them in the capacity of Keeper and not driver.

So, show us the original NtK making sure that all dates and times are not redacted.
