help with parking ticket - incorrect reg on PCN
« on: »
need help with this issue if anyone knows what to do?
I received a parking ticket from a private car park but the reg on the PCN is different to my cars reg. I have checked the gov site and that reg number does not exist. It is incorrect with 2 digits (5th and 7th) but the pcn site has pics of my cars reg.

I paid for parking till midnight then i planned to pay from the app from midnight but I fell asleep and woke up at 6am paid on the app then checked my car just in case and found the fine.

This parking lot is predatory and comes everyday at 3:00-3:30 am to get ppl when they are sleeping. I last had an issue here and had to pay £200 in fine cost due to them not having a number, broken website, fake emails, council couldnt help, national debt helpline didnt have this companys contact and unsure what to do, no numbers or emails anywhere. They charge all day parking and first time i parked here i assumed that meant 24 hours from when u purchase a ticket so 9pm would be covered till next day but wasnt the case as its full price covering till midnight then it ends and u gotta pay again.

TLDR: can i appeal a parking fine with the wrong reg on pcn? do i say nothing and hope or put an appeal in? what would i say?

What you should do first is read the instructions thread at the top of this topic and provide the information required here in your post in the exact format stated in that post.

The experts here can’t advise on anything until you do that.

What "fine"? I will give you £100 for every occurrence of that word you can evidence on any of the correspondence relating to this, including the pervious one where you appear to have been suckered into paying it!

Maybe you are referring to a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) which is definitely NOT a "fine". It is simply a speculative invoice from an unregulated private parking firm for an alleged breach of contract by the driver.

Would you just pay any old invoice just because it says you have to pay? This whole system is designed to get the low-hanging fruit on the gullible tree to pay up out of ignorance and fear. Sadly, that is the majority of recipients of these PCNs.

Regarding your specific case, you have provided little information that we can use to assist. Please read this:

READ THIS FIRST - Private Parking Charges Forum guide

WE need to know the name of the operator. The location. Whether the PCN was issued as a windscreen Notice to Driver (NtD) or a Postal Notice to Keeper (NtK). Has the driver been identified? Is the PCN fully compliant with PoFA 2012?

Maybe just show us the PCN?
