Luton Drop Off/Debt Recovery Plus
« on: »
Hi, The registered keeper parked in the Luton pickup area on the 11th Jan and forgot to pay the £5 fee. Last week (so a month later) they received a letter from Debt Recovery Plus asking for £165, etc. The registered keepers says this is the first correspondence they've received on the matter. ie. no parking charge notice, etc What's your advice pls? Thanks.

Welcome to FTLA.

To help us provide the best advice, please read the following thread carefully and provide as much of the information it asks for as you are able to: READ THIS FIRST - Private Parking Charges Forum guide

If it's an airport drop off and has already reached debt collector stage the advice may well be to ignore but let's figure out what's what.

Given you mention at least one letter not arriving, the first thing you should do is get out the V5C document for the vehicle and check it contains the correct address for the keeper.

Hi, I checked and the V5C is all in order. This is the only correspondence received from DRP. Do you need any other information? Again, the registered keeper wasn't driving at the time.

If you are sure you never received the postal Notice to Keeper (NtK), you can send a formal complaint to APCOA requesting a copy, evidence of the date they actually sent it and that they cancel it anyway because you cannot be liable as the Keeper and you are under no legal obligation to identify the driver.

You can safely ignore any debt recovery letters from vermin like DRP+. They are powerless to do anything except to scare the low-hanging fruit on the gullible tree into paying out of ignorance and fear.

Even if you did nothing, it would all eventually go away as APCOA are not litigious.

Thanks v much. I'm inclined to do nothing then. Appreciate the advice.

Just weather the useless and powerless debt collector letters. They will eventually stop. Ignore them. Remember, the debt collectors are not a party to any contract allegedly breached by the driver. They cannot do anything except try and scare the low-hanging fruit on the gullible tree into paying out of ignorance and fear.
