Luton airport drop off debt collection
« on: »
Given that airport is always under construction, I didn’t realize their drop off was camera based not barrier like any other airport. I never got a PCN in the mail from APCOA and my address is up to date with DVLA. So I just got a letter asking for £165 from Debt Recovery Plus where I admitted I was the driver which now in hindsight was a mistake. This was on the phone.

I now understand I should have ignored them. Is it now safe to keep ignoring them and would this case pass back to APCOA? If I ever to get a LoC does any one know much would they try to get me for? Just trying to see if paying now would be the cheaper option.

"Which address" is up to date with the DVLA? Your drivers license? We don't care about that and neither do the parking firms. What about the V5C? One of the most common mistakes is when drivers change address, they update their drivers licence but forget that the V5C is a completely different requirement.

Anyway, dumb move identifying as the driver. Never mind. You can safely ignore every thing from now on. Debt collectors are powerless to do anything except to try and intimidate the low-hanging fruit on the gullible tree to pay up out of ignorance and fear.

APCOA have never taken anyone to court over a PCN and I seriously doubt you would be the first. Ignore them and eventually they will give up.

Not sure how many other airports you've been to recently but most are now barrier-less and ANPR controlled.

Thank you for the reply! V5C is definitely up to date as the car is recently purchased and we received the V5C just fine before I ever visited the airport.

Original PCN probably went to the new owner of your previous car. DRP just did a simple credit reference search and found your address. Advice has not changed. APCOA will not litigate. Debt recovery letters can be safely shredded into hamster bedding. Nothing is going to happen.

If you try and communicate with a useless debt collector, all you are going to do is waste your time and effort, unless you intend to pay them what they are asking for. As long as they have no idea of the drivers identity, there is nothing they can do.
