Lidl Brentford, Parking Eye. Failed to enter Reg number
« on: »
Hi all,

We visited Lidl in Brentford, London a few weeks ago and it was our first time at this new supermarket because we are not local to the area. Anyway, we parked in their carpark, spent 1 hour 12 mins in the store, spent £50 and went home. We did not notice that there was a requirement to enter the vehicle details in a terminal in the store (presumably) to authorise the parking.

Parking Eye have sent us a ‘Parking Charge Notice’ which is payable due to our failure to comply with the T&Cs of the private car park.

My partner has been back to the store to see the manager and show him the receipt but was told there was nothing he could do and that she should appeal to Parkingeye. The 14 day discounted period ends tomorrow.

My question is simply this, is there any value in submitting an ‘appeal letter’ attaching the receipt from the store, or do Parkingeye have no genuine interest in considering anything as a legitimate justification if we didn’t enter our registration details in the terminal?

(I will post the documentation shortly)

Thanks you

Yes there is every reason to appeal on the grounds of being a genuine customer. Just appeal as the keeper (don't admit to being the driver, refer to the driver in the 3rd party) and attach the receipt as evidence. Keep the appeal simple and straight forward to make it easy for the appeals assessor to confirm you as a genuine customer.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'll do so today and report back in case it helps anyone else in the same predicament.

Wrote to the parkng company attaching a copy of the sales receipt and as expected they cancelled the fine.

Worth baring in mind if anyone else get's in the same predicament.

Thanks all.
