Good morning, I am seeking advice from someone please!
I parked at Marazion St Michael's Mount Initial Parking LTD carpark on 26th September. I paid for 3 hours parking.
I then moved house on 6th October, but had lived with my parents for one month prior. If an initial letter was sent, it would likely have arrived in this window where I hadn't updated my V5 form.
I never received a first letter requesting payment, but I did receive a second letter (dated 30th October, forwarded from my previous address) stating I had now missed the first charge (£60) and owed £170. I contested this in writing, as I had proof of parking. They replied and said that this wasn't the issue, but that I had overstayed by 30 minutes and reminded me it was my responsibility to update my address (ignoring the fact that I was in between addresses at the time), so the £170 charge stood. I can't recall overstaying at the car park.
Therefore, I am happy to accept this and pay the initial charge of £60, but they're obviously saying that I now owe £170. If I am to write back to the debt company, how can I emphasise that I did not receive a first letter - I was a) in between addresses and b) it was not forwarded to me like the second one was. I didn't do a Royal Mail redirect, but I have the phone number of the new owner, and my previous neighbour brought round the second letter to me - he didn't have the first letter so I can only assume it never actually arrived.
