Gatwick Airport charge
« on: »
Hi,

Wondering if you could help with the attached.

I have received a parking charge from NCP dated 15/05/2025 for an incident that occurred on 26/04/2025. The charge concerns our use of the drop-off zone at Gatwick Airport's South Terminal.

The situation is as follows: My dad was driving to pick us up from another car park and had already exited and paid for that. When we left the airport, we took a wrong turn and accidentally entered the drop-off zone. However, we did not actually park there. According to the parking charge details, we entered the drop-off zone at 07:25:14 and exited at 07:25:45, which means we only spent about 31 seconds there. This should indicate that we simply drove through and did not perform any pick-up.

any help would be appreciated

thanks

First of all, I suggest you use the search box to search for

Gatwick NCP

and you’ll find lots of examples.

NCP aren’t interested in any appeal because they only want your money, but you should be able to construct something with the help of these examples, by all means post here for input, your appeal will be rejected but you’ll get a POPLA code.

thanks for reminding me i checked and believe the below should be correct

Dear Sirs,

I have received your Parking Charge Notice (Ref: ______) for vehicle registration mark _______, in which you allege that the driver has incurred a parking charge. I am appealing as the registered keeper of the vehicle. There is no obligation for me to name the driver and I will not be doing so. I note from your correspondence that you are not seeking to hold me liable as the registered keeper, under Schedule 4 of the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 ("The Act").

Even if you were seeking to do so, as the Gatwick Airport South Terminal Drop Off Zone is not "relevant land" as defined by The Act you are unable to recover the charge from me, the keeper.

I am therefore unable to help you further with this matter, and look forward to your confirmation that the charge has been cancelled. If you choose to decline this appeal, you must issue a POPLA code.

Yours,

That should do the trick. They'll probably give up once they realise you know your position, but if they do reject the appeal then we can advise on a POPLA appeal that should see them off.

NCP are usually pretty good at accepting defeat at initial appeal stage for these no Keeper liability for contravention on land under statutory control.
