Help! DCB Legal letter
« on: »
Hi,

So I live in Scotland (Glasgow) and got a letter in the mail regarding a parking fine from a retail park from around 6-8 months ago.  It states that their role at this stage is

- Review the case information and evidence supplied by our client
- Assess whether the matter is suitable for Litigation in Scotland
- provide you with a final opportunity to resolve the outstanding balance before legal escalation

I haven’t spoken to them at all, nor have they provided me with any other evidence and I read that since they are in England it’s difficult for them to progress this in Scotland?

I dunno, I am seeking advice on if I pay this or ignore it and why as the letter obviously is ambiguous but threatening.

Thank you so much for your help, this is honestly amazing work you guys are doing

Jordan

Where was the alleged parking contravention?

If this is the first letter you have received there is a chance your V5C is not up to date - get it out and check. Or have you moved in the interim?

The letter is probably nothing more than a debt collecting letter.

They are just chancing their arm - they know that a percentage pay up.

You can safely ignore it but keep an eye out for a letter of claim.

They are highly unlikely to pursue this as you live in Scotland.

A Sheriff Court Simple Procedure claim form, I think, is the one not to ignore if they go that far.
