Hello,

I'm new here, thank you in advance for the advice. I received a letter from Gladstones Solicitors (on behalf of Horizon Parking Ltd) today about parking that happened a year ago. Driver did park in Tesco's parking lot without going into the store (this is a practice many locals used to do if they needed a quick pop into town) so this we cannot really dispute. However, no notice was left on the car, we did not know about this until now, so had no chance to react and pay the reduced fine, or even the default £70. Now the charge is £150. Is there anything that can be done to avoid paying this at all?
Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you.

Think about why you did not receive the original Notice to Keeper (NtK). If you changed address at some point before the date of the alleged contravention, did you remember to update your V5C? Updating your drivers licence is completely separate and one does not affect the other.

If that is the case, you must send a Data Rectification Notice to both Horizon and Gladstones DPOs, requiring them to update your address for service and to erase your old address. The highlighted words are there for a reason, so use them.

DO a search for recent Letter of Claim (LoC) responses and send one to Gladstones.
