APCOA Heathrow

Hello to all

My car was clocked making a pick up / drop off at Heathrow on 28-Apr-25

I don't know who the driver was - I have a large, old car, and lend it to many family members and friends for airport runs, as long as they have insurance to cover other vehicles.

Unusually, it seems that this time whoever it was forgot to pay or failed to pay for some reason.

I was not aware of this.

I personally left the UK a few days later (09-May) and only just returned on 10-Sep. So if they sent me a letter I never received it. (I presume they sent a letter)

When I got home, I found some letters waiting for me, some others must have been thrown away. The original letter is not among the letters. A "Debt Recovery Plus" "pay now" letter is here.

Here is the letter, plus a screenshot, taken from Apcoa's website, using the details of the recovery letter.

Is there any lawful way i can not pay this £150? Would a standard Apcoa letter work in this case?

Thank you so much for your time

If its at debt collector stage I would probably just ignore it. We've never seen APCOA take a single case to court, and if they changed the habit of a lifetime, you'd have a strong defence.

It could have been simply dealt with by appealing to APCOA at the time and reminding them that the Keeper cannot be liable because the location is not relevant land for the purposes of PoFA and the unknown driver will not be identified.

As you are now in debt recovery stage, you can safely ignore all debt recovery letters. Debt collectors are powerless to do anything except to try and intimidate the low-hanging fruit on the gullible tree to pay up out of ignorance and fear.

As mentioned above, APCOA do not litigate so, all you can do for now is ignore all the useless debt recovery letters. They will eventually stop. Nothing will come of this, APCOA are benign.
