Payment upon arrival
« on: »
Hello all,

Today I forgot to pay a private car park upon arrival (I know I should be more aware, don't know why I forgot to check car park terms but it's the first time it happened to me, maybe in a hurry or got used paying before leaving). I returned after just over an hour and only time I found out I should have paid upon my arrival. Nevertheless, I paid the exact amount I supposed to pay for the duration of my stay before leaving.
I am writing to know if there is anyone who knows or with the same experience? Should I expect a penalty notice or they would be considerate? Can I make an appeal with my parking ticket that I paid the full amount of my stay?
Thank you all.

Unless this is a car park on land that is under statutory control, you will not receive and "Penalty Notice". If it was a car park on private land that is not under statutory control, then you would receive a "Parking Charge Notice" (PCN), which is simply a speculative invoice for an alleged breach of contract by the driver from an unregulated private parking firm.

If the latter, then as long as payment was made for the applicable duration, they should not issue a PCN. The PPSCoP was revised in February this year to cover that eventuality. Annex F.1(j) applies.

If you do receive a PCN, then come back and we can advise on how to deal with it then.

Thank you for your response and help.

Yes I read that February ruling just last night whilst looking for info related to my case. I paid what I supposed to pay for my stay. Entry was around 11:50am and left car park around 1:11PM+, ticket paid was for 2 hrs stay  1:10PM - 3:10PM.

I know I should be more aware but now I remember why I missed to pay on arrival. It was raining and hungry and went straight to restaurant. Silly.

Thank you again and will update you
