Notwithstanding that the layout of the road is designed not to make right turns, shouldn't this be made explicit by the display of a no right turn sign?

Why would there need to be a sign when there's literally a built-up central crossing island in the way? The island finishes in line with the kerb of Coton Rd, meaning you have to make a u-turn to be able to turn into the road no matter how small your car is.

Take it on the chin and pay the reduced rate.

Let the sleeping dog lie. They clearly have staffing problems as many cases are not contested at the Tribunal the last time I looked.

I have a feeling there's an element of "strategy" behind this rather than RBG just being crap. Not contesting and losing by default means a ruling is never given on the merits of the appeal (road markings/PCN wording etc etc) and they can go on issuing incorrect PCNs (that they know most people will just pay) with plausible deniability.

At the risk of muddying the waters (so please ignore me if so!), the descriptor is wrong in that it's a bus station rather than a bus garage...but that could also work in your favour as there has been a ruling in the past that yellow boxes are not to be used at the entrances/exits of bus garages.

TBH you're lucky the signage has been changed - it used to be a "No Entry except buses" and you would've got 3 penalty points for "contravening a No Entry sign" (or something to that effect).
I would consider myself unlucky an explicit no entry except buses would have definitely made me stop, but that's theoretical at this point.

Your defence on both your PCNs seems to be relying on "I wasn't looking where I was going and I can't read traffic signs". I'd suggest you look for a technicality on the actual PCN notices instead and open your eyes a bit more when driving!
Thanks, reality is that Google maps saved me from this near Westcombe Hill previously, it knows the times when entry is permitted there. In this instance I was following the route previously shown by gmaps manually and got caught in the window by 15 minutes, is there any grace/defence there for this?

For Rochester Way, it was my first time there and I was exploring the area without gmaps which I deeply regret now.

Any suggestions what "technicality" I could find on the PCNs, I attached them in the first post of this thread. Appreciate help.

Whether it's a red/white No Entry with an "Except Buses" plate or a cars/motorcycles prohibited circle, it's a no entry for cars - it's just been decriminalised and become a civil offence.

With regard to Google Maps - who says the data is correct? There are signs & lines on the streets for a reason - because they're the rules. Look where you're driving & be aware of your surroundings.

I'm sorry to moan, but I live locally & driving just according to your phone (or not at all!) is downright dangerous.

You've passed the "No through road" signs when turning in to Rochester Way approx 100m previously and then the prohibited vehicles signage on the busway. TBH you're lucky the signage has been changed - it used to be a "No Entry except buses" and you would've got 3 penalty points for "contravening a No Entry sign" (or something to that effect). I know, I did it once and got pulled by the police on the other side.

Thanks for the breakdown.
Are you saying that there is no chance of making a successful representation on the basis of loading and unloading?
Are there any other grounds to make a successful appeal?
Thanks

You're bang to rights as far as the actual offence goes, but there may be a procedural/technical error that @cp8759 cab tell you about.

00:00-07:00 it's a bus lane.
07:00-10:00 it's a Red Route.
10:00-16:00 it's a Red Route parking bay where you can park for 1hr & must not return within 2hrs
16:00-19:00 it's a Red Route.
19:00-00:00 it's a bus lane.

Your PCN is for 18:30, when it's a Red Route and there's no stopping on an active Red Route - it says so with both the traffic symbol and in words on the sign.

It's the hours of operation that are at issue here.

You're parked in a Red Route parking bay at 6:30pm. The bay is only operational from 10am-4pm. Outide those hours it's a Bus Lane on a Red Route.

The Red Route is active 7am-7pm. You actually parked next to the sign.

9
The bay is only available 10am-4pm - the rest of the time it's a bus lane.

Take a look at the PCN photos on the TfL website - I think you're remembering a different day!

There's no traffic. You're pulled right-in to the kerb. You're stopped for over a minute. The zoomed-out context shot even has the "start of bus lane" sign in it.

Something to keep in mind, though, is that Bexley could report you to the DVLA over not updating the V5C if you go down that route. The fine for that is up to £1,000.

Look at it again - the increased charge is in there (£240).

As for recorded delivery, where is that in the rules?

Ah yes. You're right. It does mention the increase.

Recorded delivery was mentioned in the case shared above.

Can anyone please offer some advice on how I respond to the PCN or how to proceed?

Recorded delivery mentioned in the case above is under Scottish law, not English.

GSV isn't up to date, so you may want to go and get some contemporaneous photos to support your case, but from what's currently on GSV I reckon you've got an argument for insufficient signage on the approach to the roundabout.

1. It's Bexley, not Bromley.
2. Update your V5 with DVLA.
3. Keep checking with your ex re. further posted comms.
4. It's 100m further before the road widens to 2 lanes for the right turn into Longlands.
5. Your best bet is going to be hoping there's something procedurally wrong with the PCN when you upload it.
