I have recieved the below reply from the hotel.

I have sent this off to our team at cancellations, there shouldn't be any issue with it but i'll let you know when I get an update from them.

This must happen regularly for them to agree to cancel this.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Thanks all.

I've taken a look at the satellite imagery of the site as it seems the Duxford hotel wasn't built on the GSV.

It seems to be a shared car park, but obviously I cannot confirm without signage.

I have contacted the Red Lion and explained the situation in hopes they can cancel it with Smart Parking.

Let me know if you have more thoughts on this.

I'm unable to take signage pictures.

They also seem to be using entry and exit times as proof of parking which to me doesn't seem to prove the contravention?

Also, what sort of evidence is necessary to show the driver was at another hotel? They are adamant they didn't go near this place.

Thanks.

Private parking tickets / Smart Parking - Red Lion Whittlesford CB22 4NL
« on: January 09, 2026, 05:15:48 pm »
Hi all,

The driver stayed at hotel nearby (The Duxford Hotel Cambridge South M11 Jct 10). They did not stay at or attend the Red Lion.

I (registered keeper) have just been made aware of both a Notice to Keeper dated 01/12/2025 and a Final Reminder dated 06/01/2026.

What do you suggest? I do not have photos of signage but here is the GSV link. PCN is here

Cheers,

terika4e

Just bumping this as the 28 days has passed to submit a appeal.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have updated the link.

Hi all,

The driver parked in this car park and used what they thought was YourParkingSpace to pay for parking.

I (registered keeper) then recieved this PCN today (18/12). Either it was a technical issue or something else (user error) on the app that caused this.

What do you suggest? I do not have photos of signage but here is the GSV link. PCN is here

Cheers,

Private parking tickets / Vehicle is not the same as description
« on: July 09, 2025, 10:25:45 am »
Hi all,

I've received a PCN claiming a breach of terms and conditions and that I owe £100.

The reg is correct however the vehicle in the photos does not match the vehicle details listed.

The driver has never been to the alleged location that this contravention occurred and the pictured vehicle is not mine.

The car is a lease and was addressed to them and then forwarded to me. I am the owner.

Can I appeal or do I need authorization from the lease company to respond on their behalf?

Any help is appreciated,

Thanks.

Here is what I have submitted.

Dear Sir/ Madam,
I am writing to formally challenge the above Penalty Charge Notice.

When I returned to my vehicle, no PCN was affixed to my windscreen. I see that per the Civil Enforcement Officer’s photo one was produced but I did not return to my car until many hours after as I work into the early hours at the Victoria Warehouse venue opposite. I believe either the wind (which was harsh that night) or someone from the crowds of the Manchester United football game that evening removed it.

Furthermore, I received no other correspondence other than a Notice to Owner. This letter also states that “the vehicle was served with a penalty charge notice (PCN) which allowed 14 days for payment of a 50% discounted penalty charge). This is not true as none was received by myself, and I’m being asked to pay the full amount.

I’m asking you to please consider my personal situation.

I look forward to your response,

Yours faithfully,

I understand I may now have no grounds but it's worth a try.

Just to add I have realised that the second to last photo available does show a PCN attached to my windshield.

I'm being honest when I say none was there was I got back so I'll edit my appeal accordingly.

Thanks for all your help everyone. Please let me know your thoughts on my response.

Dear Sir/ Madam,
I am writing to formally challenge the above Penalty Charge Notice.

In accordance with the Traffic Management Act 2004, I believe a procedural impropriety has occurred.

When I returned to my vehicle, no PCN was affixed to the windscreen. The Civil Enforcement Officer’s photos show this to be true.

Furthermore, I received no other correspondence other than a Notice to Owner. This letter also states that “the vehicle was served with a penalty charge notice (PCN) which allowed 14 days for payment of a 50% discounted penalty charge). This is not true as none was received and I’m being asked to pay the full amount.

For this reason, I look forward to receiving notification that the Penalty Charge Notice has been cancelled.

Yours faithfully,

There may also be a "technical" appeal based on council mismanagement of the enforcement process

Can anyone give me some pointers on anything I could research here that is applicable to my case? Like I said this is my first letter about this which suggests the process hasn't been followed correctly.

Thanks.

Yeah I know, didn't have much of a choice that evening however.

What grounds do I have for appeal?

I was working in the venue across the road (Victoria Warehouse) and I took a chance as parking was controlled by security guards who would not let me park on-site despite it being for staff (a regular occurance here).

As for the van there was no visible windscreen notice when I got back to my vehicle (same with mine as shown by the pictures)
