I sent an emotive email to the bishop from myself last night (not the keeper). The bishop will know who parked there. I could also add the letter - to here - it is not from a legal perspective.

The talk was moved from the previous week due to the storm that occured. So - same talk - on the 14th.

If I fight the PCN I will be able to get photos of the signage and put more time to it.

I will admit I am worried and wish I had more time within their first time barrier to have tried more fully.

I also totally appreciate all your amazing answers and time put to help people like me who don't understand these systems and these horrible parking companies. I feel fed up that I've spent the time I have on this already - and yet you all have patience to help people and keep going back to helping people.

I do worry I would need extra help to get the wording exactly right to fill in the Poplar form to the best advantage. I am also worried that the signs may be correct. I remember they were yellow and black and there being plenty of them. I just trusted the lady giving the talk at the church when she said that parking was free in the car park for those attending. She did not say it was at a particular side of the car park and I should not have trusted her.

Is there much of a chance of getting off this PCN without the signage failing?

b789 and others thanks so much for your helpful advice - your wording sounds so impressive.

I am a bit worried about all this - and you are right - it is what makes people fall for the "Mugs Discount"

With the parking fine being as it was so near Christmas, family circumstances and the distance has made it difficult to go and get photos of the car park.

I also contacted the vicar separately - before contacting the parking company - I wondered if that would then divulge the driver as opposed to the keeper. Also if I contact the Bishop - his superior to say I was there at a church event and mistakenly parked in the wrong part of the car park when attending a church function - do I appeal to his better nature to repeal the fine? I am happy to do the poplar appeal and work/fight up to £100. I am not willing to risk more and take it to court.

Hello - just received an email (via the keeper of the vehicle - not me) from initial parking - not great as they have not been helpful in any way.
Also due to Christmas and all the things happening - I now only have until tomorrow until I run out of the 14 day window to pay the cheaper £60 charge as opposed to the £100 - they have not given me extra time to cover for my initial appeal. They say if I appeal again via the independent appeals service Popla - which is my only option going forward .... https://www.popla.co.uk/appeal-guide - I have 28 days to see if the appeal is successful but then I will need to pay £100 if I fail.

Is there any chance of succeeding with this or am I best to pay the £60?

do I do both things - write to above the Vicar's head and write the quoted text to initial parking

also does sending the text you quoted to initial parking presume the vicar will not contact the parking company with my name from the email.

None of this very nice at a church the week before Christmas - although I know I need to be sensible and focusing on the rules/law rather than the emotion of it.

Also is it one of those issues that really they cannot force you to pay a fine unless you are preventing someone else having somewhere to park?

I have contacted the Vicar and he said he couldn’t help and that I had to appeal it with Initial. I struggle to believe he doesn’t have the power to intervene and just cancel the notice but he obviously isn’t willing.
The parking notice has been sent to the owner of the vehicle – not actually to who was driving at the time.
I was actually parked there at a church function which we were told it was free to park but later informed this meant in a different area of the car park (after I got the notice). I did not realise there were different areas of the car park – some which were chargeable during the function.
