Yellow lines, double yellow in this case, have effect perpendicular to their direction. In normal circumstances they're placed parallel to the carriageway and have effect across a road. Same here except because they're radiused their effect swings with them until, in your case, they have effect parallel to the main carriageway, which is where you were parked.

It would obviously be helpful for the council to have the double yellows drawn all the way across, so as not to confuse anybody, but then again that would be cutting off a revenue stream for them, so no chance of that happening.

my query is as per the subject title.  I parked on a road in Trafford Borough, in an "indent" between 2 sections of pavement. The double yellow lines follow and wrap around the pavement area, but is not continuous, leaving a section of road with no yellow lines.

Best explained by seeing the Google Street View here - https://maps.app.goo.gl/6HLUq32QAGvpCJ738 - I was parked in the same space as where the Hyundai car is in the Google Street View (and where the Mercedes van is in a similar space).

I have parked there in the past with no issues.

Essentially, my car was parked parallel to a section of road with no yellow lines, in between where one double yellow lines stop and another double yellow lines start.

Should I fight this?

Any advice very much appreciated.
