I received a PCN today in the mail regarding a PCN for the Congestion Charge Zone. The location is cited Grays Inn Road, 14th October at 8:58am and the photo evidence depicts the car to be in Swinton St / Grays Inn Road.

My journey was from East London back to West London via the Westway. Coming down from A501 (Penton Rise), I swung right onto Swinton St to go to Grays Inn Road and then onto Euston Road, all of which, according to the Congestion Charge Zone map, is just outside of it.

The PCN was issued on the 22nd October.

How easily can this be contested?

Post the front of the PCN hiding only your name and address.

You are correct that the route you describe is not in the zone - I drove it myself twice to drop people at Euston the other day.

I'm guessing you missed Swinton Street and used Acton Street, which is parallel, instead.

For meaningful advice please to have a read of
https://www.ftla.uk/civil-penalty-charge-notices-(councils-tfl-and-so-on)/read-this-first-before-posting-your-case!-this-section-is-for-council-tfl-dartme/

and post up copies of all sides of the PCN (redact only yr name & address - leave everything else in) and a GSV link to the point shown in the photo..

If you stuck to the A501 (westbound) you should have been in the clear.

Edit: post crossed with Stamfordman.

Right turn into Swinton Street (straight on goes into CCZ):

I'm pretty certain you did miss Swinton and crossed to Gray's Inn Road on Acton Street and we know there's a camera picking up vehicles exiting the zone just before Swinton Street on Gray's Inn Road.

I think all you have is a plea for discretion owing to the mishap but there are clear CC signs on King's Cross Road where you entered the zone and then you took the right turn into Acton.

The TFL website says the PCN status is Paid and the outstanding amount is £0.0.

@sunshine9
Did you mean to close the PCN?
