Merton PCN 53J Entering School Street on Bank Holiday
« on: »
Hi
I got a PCN 53J on entering a school street on a bank holiday (and school was not open).
Should I contest or is it futile?

You've given us nothing to go on that we could use to help you.

Read the "Read this first" sticky thread and post up the documents and a Google maps link to three location.

I was driving through this road but it was a national bank holiday (May 4), so school was not in session.

OK, but make sure you emphasise that the sign at the top says "School Streets", implying the restriction applies when schools are 'in session'.

I just found out their own website says school streets don't apply on Bank Holidays.

Funny if I make an error I have to pay them with extra costs.

But if they make an error, I get no compensation.

There are "known knowns" which we may never have wished to know. This applies to them. But in the field the idea that there are also "unknown unknowns" doesn't apply as they hide in the aleatoric lottery. I know this is true and need to be prepared knowing the "unknown unknowns" may well apply.
