Red Route

Does anyone know if I can get out of this. I got fine for single red line parking in Islington on New Year's day.  I thought it was Sunday rules on bank holiday re parking.  Obviously everyone else did cause it was full of parked cars on Upper Street at 3pm 😢

What times were shown on the signs?

Red lines are about stopping, not parking.

I think this belongs in Civil Penalty Charge Notices and I've asked a mod to move.

Assuming you have not paid this (paying closes the case), for meaningful advice please have a read of

https://www.ftla.uk/civil-penalty-charge-notices-(councils-tfl-and-so-on)/read-this-first-before-posting-your-case!-this-section-is-for-council-tfl-dartme/

and post all sides of the PCN (only redact yr name & address) and a GSV link to the location.

it does say no stopping Monday to Friday except loading between 10am and 4pm. How do they know I wasn't loading?  Any way - it seems now I've looked it up that Christmas Day is exempt but no other day throughout the year orher than Sundays . Unless anyone knows different?

As far as I know, Christmas Day is a 'dies non', i.e excluded from parking regs and enforcement. But this being England, with its greedy councils, and CEOs probably wanting a bit of overtime, New Years Day is not.

@artbolt we can beat most if not all red route PCNs, but you need to follow the guidance John U.K. has pointed to, otherwise we have nothing to work with.
I practice law in the Traffic Penalty Tribunal, London Tribunals, the First-tier tribunal for Scotland, and the Traffic Penalty Tribunal for Northern Ireland, but I am not a solicitor or a barrister.
