Penalty Charge Notice
« on: »
Cardiff County Council have served me with a penalty charge for performing a prohibited turn (No right turn). The alleged offence was at Guildford Street junction/with Churchill Way, Cathays.

There is a no right turn sign in place there and whilst I needed to turn right I had intended to drive up and around, however when the traffic lights changed from red to green there was not only a green light but a green right turn arrow so I turned right as indicated.

Any advise please on my rights to appeal the penalty charge?

Please begin by posting up scans/images of all sides of the PCN you received as per the READ THIS FIRST - **BEFORE POSTING YOUR CASE!** sticky post at the top of the forum.

Please only redact or obscure your name & address and leave everything else visible.

Hi,

Just wondering what happened as I turned right at the junction and ended up with a PCN, but I was going to a pre booked parking spot in Helmont House in North Edward Street and that is the only way to get to the parking spot.  I am appealing it.

I appealed but they denied my appeal and I had to pay. Someone else posted to me that they appealed and just had a stern e-mail back and didn't have to pay. I did ask them to share the e-mail but I didn't hear back (mind you I don't find this site the easiest to navigate so could be me !!)

I didn't receive any official response on this site so waited until the date before the price would have increased and raised the appeal

On that grounds, I would always recommend appealing, as this stops the clock, and they do take a while to respond so you've nothing to lose really. You'll either be lucky or at least delay the payment process.

I hope your lucky

Thanks for your response.

Fingers crossed,  I sent evidence of my car park booking it might help.

I did wonder though how the public would get to the Capitol car park as I thought the entrance to this was on North Edward Street aswell.
