Author Topic: Redbridge council - Received penalty charge notices but I was not owner and I can’t appeal.  (Read 374 times)

I bought a car on May 28th in the evening from a car dealer. I have proof of payment, invoice and the email from DVLA confirming I’m the new owner as well as the logbook.

I was out of the country for a month but when I returned I had 10 letters about penalty charges from redbridge council that happened before I was the owner. They said the matter was going to be referred to the court and It didn’t let me appeal as apparently I didn’t respond (but I wasn’t even aware and they’re not mine)

Will I be held liable for these tickets? Is there any way to formally contact them? The only form they have is to pay the PCN. I don’t even live in that area.

Thanks in advance

Sorry, but with no data, documents, or any other information, we are completely in the dark so giving advice is virtually impossible. Please, therefore read this and update your thread accordingly: -
https://www.ftla.uk/civil-penalty-charge-notices-(councils-tfl-and-so-on)/read-this-first-before-posting-your-case!-this-section-is-for-council-tfl-dartme/

check the dates and doc ref on your new V5 and see if the change of keeper date corresponds with the Email notification AND the date you bought the car.
