Fishergate - Cheapside 34J

1:14am Fishergate - Cheapside - being in bus lane. Best way I can have a go at appealing this? Not sure of the signage and it was late. What is there usual line when you point out the intent is to aid buses, and that even night buses on that day and time aren't going down there?

The PCN photos don't show you passing Bus Only signs, only emerging from a street with Bus Only lanes in the other direction. You must have passed the signs some distance back. Claiming it was in the small hours for a 24x7 restriction won't get the PCNs cancelled, I'm afraid. Were you following satnav ?

Hi,

Thanks for the response. I'm not sure if I was using satnav, I may have been. Does this effect a challenge I would make?
Do the photos shown help me to make any kind of challenge to the fine, along with anything else, or do you feel at this stage I should pay?

Plese tell us your route that got you into Fishergate. We need to see if signs are adequate at your point of entry.

Video shows you well into this zone, which we've seen before. My son got a PCN in Fishergate and I failed to get it overturned but I can't remember the details.

Assuming you passed signs like those shown above, there is no bus lane signage in place. The only signs placed are signs conveying a route restricted to certain vehicles. In this case the signs convey that the route is restricted for use by buses, pedal cycles and taxis only. Contravening this sign is, according to Govt guidance, a moving traffic contravention and not a bus lane contravention. Therefore the appropriate contravention description is Code 33 - Using a route restricted to certain vehicles.

I presume I turned further back. I can't see any signs, and it seems I may have gone down the wrong way down the one way street? I'm not used to driving in the area and am not sure of the details, but that is from a quick search.

Should I write an appeal citing the appropriate contravention description Code 33 you mentioned? Will I be able to do it in time for the 50 percent discount?

Thanks

Successful challenge.
Reason given: I drove down a one way street opposite direction and did not pass any signage.
Although I did mention the different code also.

Replies of course were appreciated in formulating my understanding and approach to this.
