Hi. Was parked here for less than 5 minutes. Is there any form of defence here? Family member was driving not me and was picking up some shopping.

This is a better link because it shows how bad councils are at installing parking bays : -

Outside the pub is the loading bay, note the wider bay compared to the other one. A better, (and recommended) installation would have the two signs on a single pole at the division between the two bays, with arrows to indicate applicability. HOwever, the existing signing is present and clear enough IMHO.  Having said that, the loading bay is not all that long, so I'm surprised you seemed to have missed it.  Or did you just chance your arm and hope a CEO didn't come along !

PCNs can sometimes contain fatal errors of content making them void, so please post-up the PCN, all sides. YOu can redact the reg. numbere but it's not important as that is on display whenever your car is on the public highway.

the imgur link i've posted has the pcn as well at the bottom.

Found it !  I have to say it looks OK to me.

Make a plea for discretion, in the meantime I'll get hold of the traffic order.

The map tile is on page 338 of the traffic order linked above, and as far as I can work out the bay is correctly marked.

At this point your only option apart from paying is to wait for the notice to owner and then adopt the strategy described here.

As long as the notice to owner is challenged within 14 days, the council will normally reoffer the discount, so there is limited risk in carrying on.
