HELP NEEDED :(
on:
#1
My work car park is run by Smart Parking LTD and is free for all members of staff. When registering your vehicle you have to email the company your registration. When I did this I mentioned the make, model and colour of my car but instead of typing 'DA73' for the reg, I accidentally typed 'RA73' by mistake. As a result (because of a 1 digit mistake), I ended up with 28 separate fines.

Soon as I got the fines. I instantly gave them to work management who passed them onto the cancellation team. 2 weeks later, the cancellation team got back to me and told me that they cannot cancel the fines. That is when, I appealed directly to Smart Parking LTD. I am still waiting for them to reply and some of the fines have been passed to debt collection and increased form £60 to £170.

Does anyone have any advice on what to do next?

Route One here will be to go back to 'work management' and tell them what is going on.

If the landowner has told the parking operator to cancel the notices then the operator must do that.

(Not so) Smart Parking are clearly trying it on here.

You should mention the recent open letter from the CMA in any communications with Smart since this is clearly a 'minor keying error' and should result in all notices being cancelled.

Instead of cancelling they have revealed your personal data to a third party debt collector.
