Paid FPN, now received SJPN
« on: October 30, 2024, 11:39:43 am »
I received a NIP earlier this year at the end of April, admitted I was the driver, and then received the FPN for a £100 fine and 3 points, which was all paid at the beginning of May. I then received a SJPN with only the speeding charge on the back; I think this is because I forgot to submit my driving license details the second time when paying the FPN. I wanted some advice on how to proceed and whether going to court would me more or if it would be better for me to respond online only. The road was A20 Eastbound, West of Sandy Lane to East of Cookham Road, with a temporary speed limit of 40mph, and I was doing 56.

Just respond online pleading guilty.

In the "mitigation" section, explain your mistake and ask the court, respectfully, if they would consider sentencing you at the fixed penalty level. A kindly Single Justice may take pity on you or may, perhaps, "split the difference" by fining you £100 but also imposing the "victim surcharge" and costs.
