New driver uninsured by error
« on: »
Hello, i was recently pulled over for not having an MOT and drive my mums car. I usually add myself as a temporary driver for the day that i require the car. This process is quite simple and i completed it on the morning of the incident however for some unbeknown to me the payment hadn’t completed.  I was in a rush and dashed out of the room before the error code could load. Therefor when asked to produce documents proving i was insured i couldn’t. As the insurance was under my mums email address and she was unavailable i was given a HORT 1 producer form. Apparently this is unusual as the officer would usually call for the car to be seized instantly however the officer wanted to give me the most opportunity to get out of trouble as he said he saw me as a responsible person and took a liking to me. I did this completely unintentionally and would never knowingly drive without insurance as it is important for my school and work and i understand the consequences are dire.

I’m now terrified and don’t know what to do. i didn’t intentionally drive without insurance and i would never do so, this is an error and i accept it’s my responsibility but is there anything i can do to mitigate losing my license which i have only had for 3 months as an 18 year old driver.

i will speak to the insurance company and see if they can help but i think it’s doubtful.

There is also no reason for the stop on or area location the HORT 1 form (see attachment)

what should I do ?

thank you in advance
