Human Error and room to appeal?
« on: »
Hi, I’ve been sent here from Reddit.

I received a CPN today - I had input my reg number wrong. As in i used my old cars reg instead of my current cars reg. A silly human error that has now resulted in a £60 fine. The car park is Private and owned by Leeds Beckett University (UK).

Redditors have said that I could complain about the system allowing the charge to even go through when the old reg hadn’t entered the car park in the first place.

Any advice regarding how i could appeal would be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to FTLA.

To help us provide the best advice, please read the following thread carefully and provide as much of the information it asks for as you are able to: READ THIS FIRST - Private Parking Charges Forum guide

In particular the whole of the notice.

Of course it would be within their gift to design a system that doesn't allow the input of VRM's that aren't on site (or at least displays a warning message), but they'd make less money if they did that, and there's no legal requirement for them to do so. Let's look at all the information and we can go from there.
