Hi DWMB2,

We have received a Court Hearing date in August 2026.

There is now a requirement for us to submit a bundle to the court and plaintiff, in chronological order, indexed (by 4pm on 21st March 2026). Should this include emails prior to the Statement of Claim? We were sent various threatening emails from DCB over several months, including one with a PCN, but this was not included in the Statement of Claim. DCB have still not sent us a copy or photograph of the contract they argue we have breached.

Is there anything else you would recommend? Legal Authorities for example?

Finally, do you believe DCB are likely to proceed to the hearing, allocated for 90 minutes?

Thanks.

Please post what you have received.

What is the deadline for DCB Legal to pay the court fee?

The Claimant has to pay the trial fee of £27 by 8th July 2026. I will scan and post the court documents asap.

SETTLEMENT REACHED.

Following a Notice of Trial at the County Court Guildford, DCB Legal offered to settle the case.

Given the hearing was listed for 1.5 hours and the sum to settle was only £60 I believe the court’s time would be better spent on a more important matter.

It is a shame it has taken this long to reach a conclusion. In their final correspondence DCB Legal wrote that they wish, 'To assist the Court in achieving its overriding objective…'.  This is despite them failing to make such an offer during mediation – a process designed to avoid matters having to be heard in court.

I would like to thank everyone on FTLA who has helped over the months. Keep up the good work. There will be countless people who are very worried about the prospect of being sued and who pay up immediately simply to avoid such anxiety.

With luck we will see changes to the law in due course. It should not be possible for companies to buy up 'debt' based on alleged offences that are many years old. As these businesses would not turn a profit without charging more than the original sum owed we have formula which inevitably leads to injustice.

The fact these companies also pursue members of the public in such an aggressive manor cannot be in the public interest.

Thanks for the update @Dominic. Had they paid the trial fee? If not, then if you had waited unt the deadline for doing so, you would very likely have found that they would have discontinued the case, and you would have saved yourself £60.

Nobody had 'bought up' your debt - G24 was the claimant throughout. They merely hired DCB Legal to handle legal proceedings as their solicitors.
Away from 29th March - 5th April

Thanks DWMB2,

Unfortunately we would have had to wait some time for the Trial Fee to be paid, or not. And in the meantime we were required to prepare the trial bundle.

I take your point on G24 who may be better described as having 'bought the debt'. The parking space was owned by Homebase who were a reputable business. Their brand would have suffered if adopting the tactics of G24.
