Britannia PCN - Overstayed welcome - Southampton
« on: February 27, 2024, 11:23:08 am »
Received PCN. Genuinely parked and proceeded to a local restaurant. It was absolutely raining cats and dogs and it was dark.  It was midweek & evening so wasn’t alarmed that there was a lack of other vehicles.
Not used this car park for over 10 years and wasn’t expecting PCN.
It your opinion, what’s the best way to deal with this situation? (I swear it’s going to be illegal to breathe soon!) any advice appreciated and thankyou in advance

Genuinely parked and proceeded to a local restaurant.
Was the local restaurant part of the shopping centre whose car park the vehicle was parked on?

You'll ideally need to get photos of the signs - showing both their content and layout, as it is these signs that form the alleged contract. If the visibility of them was poor then getting photos to demonstrate this would be useful.

I urgently advise the OP to redact the PCN number and VRM from the image. I have just managed to log in and if I had ill intent, I could submit a really bad appeal.

Signage at that location, at least in May 2018 on GSV, was inadequate.

The restaurant wasn’t part of the shopping complex. The restaurant being on a main road.
Please find attached images from Google street view of the complex entrance and signs
