Speeding and other criminal offences / SJPN speeding: do I have to provide income details, and what happens if I don’t?
« on: June 23, 2026, 10:43:15 pm »
Hi all,
I’ve received a Single Justice Procedure Notice for speeding: 35mph in a 20mph limit.
I wanted to ask whether it is mandatory to provide financial information to the court when responding to an SJPN.
My weekly income is above £440. If I choose not to provide my income details, would the court normally use the default weekly income figure of £440 when calculating the fine, or could there be any negative consequences for leaving the financial circumstances form blank?
I’m not trying to avoid providing information; I’m just trying to understand if you're legally reqiured to provide it and if it's mandatory?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
