Private parking tickets / Parking Charge at MK1 Parking
« on: May 20, 2026, 10:47:32 am »
Hello,
I am posting to ask for advice on a charge I got while staying at a hotel which is part of Stadium MK in Milton Keynes. The hotel has private parking through a company called MK1 Parking Ltd, which you can pay for either in reception or via Ringo. I have stayed there a few times before and used Ringo. I paid that evening and left before the named departure time the next morning and was sent a charge for overstaying. Essentially I think the details of the charge are right, because I didn't buy the parking through Ringo immediately and because the price was what I was expecting, I didn't check properly and bought 12 hours of parking then stayed for over 15 hours.
An email back and forth that I expected (stupidly I suppose) to end with them offering me the chance to pay the difference between what I paid and what I owed (which was £1.80) instead ended with them saying I owed the full amount. Before I pay I wanted to explore if I would be justified in defending it. The time to appeal has now passed so I imagine it would require things to progress to court.
I can't figure out how to add attachments or paste in snips of the letters/emails, but I do have some.
I would appreciate any help on my next step.
Thanks
Richard
