Also to add, I have driven from Islington down Swinton street and onto Euston road before to head out of town and I did not receive a PCN for doing so. Assuming you didn't come from further down Grays inn road and you also came down via Islington, Swinton st and then right onto Euston road to go out of town I am not sure why you've received a ticket as I never did.

WC1X 9NP (south side of Swinton Street) is listed as inside the zone; WC1X 9NX (north side of the street) is listed as outside the zone?

Stamfordman - forgive me but if I did such a thing how would that assist the cause ?

There are bays marked out either side (and where) she parked but there are no footway parking signs. There are zone parking signs and bays clearly marked out so I have no idea at this point whether the bays in cann hall road outside the Rookwood pub are legitimate bays or not - if they aren't then are you genuinely expected to check the relevant traffic order before parking to make sure it has statutory approval as a parking bay? What an absolute joke.

What have the double yellow lines to do with anything? There are visible double yellow lines on both sides of the road where there are "legitimate" parking bays (which also have the tiny sign below the time restrictions).

Perhaps the council tried to remove the double yellow lines here but gave up halfway through the process as well.

This picture is almost directly opposite where the car was parked and ticketed.

Thanks both. It sounds to me and my gut reaction is that this should go to the tribunal and there are good chances of success. It's not my money though so I'll report back and hopefully they'll do the right thing and not get mugged.

If anyone has any thoughts to the contrary let me know !!

Cheers for this. Do we think this will fall on fertile ground with your average adjudicator? I think it's got to be better than evens prospect of success? But appreciate it's all a gamble.

So, for the same person I am trying to help, here is an unusual one.

They parked in what looked like a bay with slightly faded markings. Raised informal reps based on exactly that and the rejection is attached.

A Google street view from a few months back is also below.

What do we think about this one chaps?

Cheers

Redbridge have a nasty little habit of not taking down the signs even when the school term is over.

Couple this with their own website which gives some reassurance that the school term was over when the alleged contravention was committed, id be very tempted to defend this one until the end.

Cheers Hippocrates. Why should we not mention the case referenced in the appeal? Presumably the damage is done when they send out the PCN and it has a defective description of the location? If so then I would have referenced all the cases you've kindly linked to by way of precedent, but obviously you're the expert not me so will happily take a steer from you when I report back to them on this. As put they've missed the discount so this is a no brainer now.

Cheers - read it and it's spot on. Assuming the paper PCN also simply says "Chigwell road" this must have better than evens chance of success I would have thought?

Cheers have asked for the PCN. In the meantime the video is available on the Redbridge PCN viewer online using the reg and PCN number in the initial post.

I think they might have a runner with the vague location as Chigwell road is 2 odd miles long and has multiple box junctions on it but am interested with a y other thoughts. It's a no brainer anyway as they've missed the 2 week discount now.

So a friend has received this PCN from Redbridge

I'm waiting on them to confirm but it appears the pcn just says "Chigwell road" which is enormous and has multiple box junctions on it.

There is also a chance that they could have squeezed into the space in front but until I can actually locate the box junction to measure the space in front I won't know.

In the meanwhile I've been up and down Chigwell road 3 times today on Googlemaps and I cannot see this box junction on there which might indicate it's
a new one in the last few months.

Assuming the space in front argument isn't going to be a runner (it's a long car) and the gap in front looks to me to be roughly 4m which might not be enough - is the vague location a runner? The video doesn't even show the location as the electronic date obscures the left and road name.

Any thoughts welcome

If we accept that the rear bumper of the Merc is in line with the 2nd newal post of the metal fencing (indicated by the top of the dark black post in the picture below to the left of the blue mark in the picture below), and after that comes the last newal post, by the green mark in the photo and then after that the keep left sign, which is by the red mark in the picture- I think we can prove this.

The distance from the edge of the box to a position not yet at the second Newal post (by the blue mark) where the mercs bumper is, is in excess of 4m so the Clio should fit and it simply stopped short, which isn't an offence.
